Biography of the guest lecturer

Mr. Hisayasu Sakakibara
Chief Priest of Haraegasaki Inari Shrine
(Shiogama City, Miyagi Pref.)

Born in Shiogama City in 1949. Graduated from Kokugakuin University with a major in Shinto study in 1972 and began working at Shiogama City Office. He started working as a Shinto priest at Haraigasaki Inari Shrine and Umenomiya Shrine from 1973. He was appointed as Chief Priest of Haraigasaki Inari Shrine and Umenomiya Shrine in 1985.
He also works as a teacher of Japanese traditional culture and Shinto rituals in the Association of Shinto Shrines of Miyagi prefecture. He has worked as a chaplain at Miyagi Prison from 2006 and is qualified to teach Social Studies by the Board of Education.
