Mikagura was dedicated

mikagura.JPGOn 16th December, Mikagura, ceremonial court music and dance, was dedicated. Under the light of bonefire in the silent evening, Shinto priests and maidens solemenly served the ritual. Guests from foreign embassies such as America, Canada and India watched and experienced the traditional performance which was first dedicated in Tsurugaoka Hachiamangu about 800 years ago.

Before Mikagura, a lecture ‘Shikinen Sengu Ceremony and Heart of the Japanese’ was held by Chief Priest. About 500 members of Worshippers’ Association ‘Enju no Kai’ attended it and the ritual.
