Coming of Age Ceremony Was Held

seijinsai2014.JPGIt was the Coming-of-Age Day on 13th January. Here in Tsurugaoka Hachimangu, 20 year-olds celebrated their coming of age on the stage of the Lower Worship Hall.

16 new adults, dressed in kimono and traditional costume, took part in the ritual. The Chief Priest announced their coming of age to the kami and prayed for the blessings for them. They dedicated arrows and received the sacred seal on their forehead from a priest.

It became not only a memorable day to take a step as adults, but also a valuable experience for the 20-year-olds to participate in a traditional ceremony.
