Setsubun-sai (celebration of the Day before the First of Spring) was held

2014setsubun.bmpOn 3rd February, Setsubun-sai, ritual to celebrate the spring and new year coming, and two special ceremonies were dedicated.

The special ceremonies called Meigen (resounding bowstrings) and Mamemaki (scattering beans) are held after the ritual. In the Meigen ceremony, priests pluck their bow strings in the Lower Worship Hall, and attendants scatter soybeans after the Meigen ceremony. Both two ceremonies are held to dispel evil spirits. Many people visited to try to catch the scattered beans and pray for blessing to the coming new spring.
