Oharae (Major Purification Ritual) was Conducted

Oharae2014.JPGOn 30th June, Oharae (Major Purification Ritual) was held at Tsurugaoka Hachimangu.

More than 1300 people participated in the ritual. They recited purification words together with Shinto priests to remove impurities and sins which befell to themselves during the last half a year, and prayed for good health for the next half a year. At the end of the ritual, led by the priests, they passed through the big thatched ring called “Chinowa” (茅の輪) for purification.
