261104 HP.JPGOn 4th November, a group of 85 members of HP Indigo visited Tsurugaoka Hachimangu. They came to Japan from over 40 countries for conferences and took a trip to Kamakura as a part of their programs to experience Japanese culture.

Firstly, they attended a ceremony in the Main Shrine to have a prayer in a formal way.

After that, Japanese traditional music, Gagaku, and dance were performed by Shinto priests and shrine maidens at the Lower Worship Hall specially for the group. The performance included 261104 HP(2).jpga piece called “Etenraku”, one of the most popular Gagaku pieces, and the dance called “Yorozuyo-no-mai” which has been handed down to Tsurugaoka Hachimangu.

In addition, our chief priest gave a speech on how Japanese people appreciate nature from a religious point of view. Beautiful kimono were also displayed, relating to the speech.

The members were impressed with the special experiences at the shrine and deepened their understanding of Japanese tradition.
