Cherry Blossoms in Bloom on the Newly Opened Dankazura

dankazura kansei.JPG Dankazura, the main approach to Tsurugaoka Hachimangu, has newly opened after the two-year maintenance construction.

Dankazura was originally constructed in 1182 on behalf of the founder of Tsurugaoka Hachimangu, Minamoto Yoritomo's wife, Masako, to pray for a safe birth. In 2014, the construction was carried out to repair damaged masonry and plant new lively cherry trees, and was completed on 30th March, 2016.

The newly-planted cherry trees are now in full bloom, making Dankazura a flower tunnel. Please walk through the lovely flower tunnel and enjoy beautiful Japanese spring.
