harubotan.jpgThe 4th Tsurugaoka Intellectual Salon was held on 13th March.

About 40 people, including Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Bulgaria to Japan, embassy officials, and international students, attended.

Firstly, Chief Priest Yoshida spoke about the sacred kimono and its relationship to Shinto, to which the attendants listened attentively.

harubotan.jpgIn the workshop, the teachers from Oda Kimono College explained the tradition of the 12-layered kimono and gave a demonstration of dressing it. The attendants were captivated by the beauty of the kimono being layered one by one. They also tried on the kimono and were surprised at its weight.

This valuable experience deepened the participants’ interests in Shinto and kimono, and gave them an opportunity to enjoy Japanese culture.
