Gagaku workshop was held for overseas teachers of Japan Foundation Japanese-Language Institute

gagaku 616.JPG On 16th June, 24 overseas teachers of Japan Japanese-Language visited Tsurugaoka Hachimangu for the gagaku workshop.

They firstly visited the main shrine to participate to the ceremony of worship, and attended to the workshop to learn Japanese traditional music gagaku. Following to the lecture by Chief Priest, Shinto priests and shrine maidens played gagaku music and kagura sacred dance. After that performance, attendees experienced to play the gagaku instruments and learned a part of kagura dance with shrine maidens. It seemed that they enjoyed this opportunity to experience Japanese traditional culture.
