"Susu-harai-shiki" took place on 13th

Susu-harai” means dusting-off, and is conducted to welcome the New Year’s kami (the Japanese word for Shinto deities) with a clean house. It also marks the start of all the preparations for the New Year.
In Tsurugaoka Hachimangu, all the Shinto priests and shrine maidens cleaned up the precinct including the Rômon (Great Gate) and the Main Shrine.
