Information on the Tanabata (Star Festival)

7th July is the day of Star Festival in Japan called tanabata. To celebrate this seasonal festival, several events will be held at Tsurugaoka Hachimangu as follows.

Date and Time:

      Sat. 24 June, Sun. 25 June,

      Sat. 1 July, Sun. 2 July, and Fri. 7 July


This is a traditional display at tanabata festival. People pray for their improvement of the skills of arts by offering colourful silk threads and clothes, biwa and koto Japanese music instruments, and seasonal fresh foods to kami.
