Oharae (Major Purification Ritual) was held

oharae2017-2.JPGOn 30th June, oharae (Major Purification Ritual) was held at Tsurugaoka Hachimangu, and more than 2000 people participated in the ritual. They recited purification words together with Shinto priests to remove impurities and sins which befell to themselves during the first half of the year.

At the end of the ritual, led by the priests, they passed through the thatched ring called “Chinowa” for purification and prayed for good health for the next half of the year.
