Tsurugaoka Intellectual Salon was held on 16th July

9TIS-1.jpg The 9th Tsurugaoka Intellectual Salon was held on 16th July.

This year, Tsurugaoka Intellectual Salon focuses on Japanese calligraphy and painting.

Firstly, Mr. Shuei Takahashi, the former director of Kanazawa Bunko Museum, gave a lecture about masterpieces of medieval calligraphy and painting composed by outstanding Zen monks. Then, Mr. Hiroyuki Naito, associate director of Kamakura Kokuhoukan Museum, introduced and explained about a special exhibition “Selected Masterpieces from 9TIS-2.jpgTokiwayama Bunko Foundation” at the Kamakura Kokuhoukan Museum. Following the lecture, a guided tour of the special exhibition was held by Mr. Naito.

Attendees including Austrian Ambassador, H.E. Dr. Hubert HEISS, officials from embassies of US, Swiss, Czech, and international students enjoyed the TIS, and felt some more of Japanese culture through Zen calligraphy and art.
