Tsurugaoka Intellectual Salon (TIS) was held on 17th March

The 11th Tsurugaoka Intellectual Salon (TIS) was held on 17th March.

In the first part, Rev. Mr. Shigeho Yoshida, the Chief Priest of Tsurugaoka Hachimangu, gave a lecture about “Japanese Sense of Beauty ~water and rain~”. Following the lecture, a workshop of Nihonga was conducted by Ms. Ayako Imanishi, Curator of Kaburaki Kiyokata Memorial Art Museum, and traditional tools and techniques were introduced with Nihonga demonstration. Ambassador of Dominica, H.E. Mr. Hector Paulino DOMINGUEZ Rodriguez, and embassy officials of Canada, Mexico, Thai and also foreign students were attended. Each of them was fascinated by the depth of Nihonga, and at the workshop, they focused on drawing pictures on a square paperboard.Attendees enjoyed this Nihonga experience, and hopefully deepened understanding of Japanese culture through this salon even more.
