Interns from Lithuania

rit1.JPGMs. Monika Antanaityte, Mr. Ignas Cepele, and Ms. Gaile Vanagiene from Lithuania were invited by Tsurugaoka Hachimangu as a cultural intern for 14 days from March 30th to April 12th.

This was a special request from the Japanese Ambassador to Lithuania, Mr. Shigeeda who has been supporting our international activities since 2013, and for a momentous occasion, he invited Tsurugaoka Hachimangu to Lithuania for Mikagura (classical ceremonial music and dance) performance in June, 2017. It was not only the first Mikagura performance in the Baltic, but also it inspired and impressed many Lithuanian audiences. Thus, Mr Shigeeda has been promoting intercultural activities rit2.JPGbetween Lithuania and Japan for better understanding each other, and this internship also symbolizes our close friendship.

During the internship, they experienced a wide range of Japanese culture including a manner of a Shinto shrine, tea ceremony, calligraphy, and excursions such as Ise Jingu, Hakone, Kyoto, and Nara.

Through these experience, we expect them to be bridges for both countries, and contribute to bond more long-standing friendship and intercultural activities in the future.
