Tsurugaoka Intellectual Salon (TIS) was held on 24th November

The 13th Tsurugaoka Intellectual Salon (TIS) was held on 24th November.

In the first part, Mr. Torayuki Yamada, Managing Director of SEIKOU-EN Inc. gave a lecture about history, tree types and shapes, and the appreciation of Bonsai. Then, at the workshop, Japanese white pine was prepared for each attendee to make Bonsai. First, they put two kinds of soils in a small pot. Next, they took off the pine tree from the old pot, and pruned the roots for repotting. They set the pine tree into a new pot and covered it with moss. Although it was about one hour workshop, they enjoyed and learned making Bonsai.   

Embassy officials including the Ambassador’s wife of the Republic of Moldova and Canada, Switzerland, US, and staffs of Mexico tourism board, Association des Français du Japon, and foreign students attended and experienced culture of Japanese gardening through this salon.
