Tsurugaoka Intellectual Salon (TIS) was held on 16th March

The 14th Tsurugaoka Intellectual Salon (TIS) was held on 16th March.

In the first part, Mr. Torayuki Yamada, Managing Director of SEIKOU-EN Inc. gave a lecture about history of Bonsai-cho where SEIKOU-EN is located, tree types & shapes, and the appreciation of Bonsai.

Next, sakura, cherry blossoms are prepared for the bonsai workshop.

First, they put two kinds of soils in a small pot. Next, they took off the cherry blossom from the old pot, and pruned the roots for repotting. They set the cherry blossom into a new pot and covered it with moss. Although it was about one hour workshop, they enjoyed and learned making Bonsai.

35 people including Greek Ambassador and his wife, Portuguese Ambassador and his wife, Ambassadresses of Palestine and Yemen, and officials of New Zealand embassy and US embassy attended. They brought the sakura bonsai home and look forward to blooming.
