Newly Open of "Tsurugaoka Museum, Kamakura"

The Museum of Modern Art newly opened as a “Tsurugaoka Museum, Kamakura”.

This building was designed by Japanese architect, Junzo Sakakura (1901-1969) who trained in the office of Le Corbusier (1887-1965), the internationally famed Swiss-French Architect. It was completed in 1951 as the first public modern art museum in Japan, and the museum building is also selected as one of the greatest Japanese modern architecture.
At this exhibition, we would like to introduce not only the design of the building but also a history of the building from the design competition in 1950 to the newly opening in 2019.

We would be delighted if this exhibition leads you to feel a spirit of the architect, Junzo Sakakura.
