Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Canada, the Honorable Wagner made an official visit.

Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Canada, the Honorable Richard Wagner, visited Tsurugaoka Hachimangu on 24th October.

Firstly, they attended a Shinto ritual in the Main Shrine, and Chief Justice offered a tamagushi, an offering to the kami, as the representative of attendees.

Next, a Shinto priest guided them around the shrine precinct, explaining about the history and facilities of the shrine.

Then, they went to the Kamakura Bunkakan Tsurugaoka Museum to see the seasonal exhibition, after they stopped by a candy stand on the main approach. Curators introduced the collection related to Shinto, this shrine and the history of Kamakura in the exhibition.

Finally, Japanese green tea and sweets were served at the guest house. They enjoyed having a conversation with a senior priest about Kamakura and Japanese culture.
